Tegan & Sarah, and Dragonette

We got just a little bit 'Closer' with Canadian pop duo, Tegan and Sara at Frederik Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids, MI. The iconic twins picked the perfect opener, Dragonette, to compliment their sound as the crowd jumped and swayed to their indie techno beats and revved up for the night. While many of Tegan and Sara's new record, Crybaby, was brought to the stage they did not shy away from their greatest hits along the way, fully packing their setlist with nostalgia for everyone. In the midst of the clapping and movement, we got to simmer down with some acoustic tunes and get hugged by the siblings' soft, sweet voices. The crowd was incredibly diverse as people young and old, of all races, sexualities and genders came together to celebrate the music that makes us all feel at home. The duo was amazingly engaging throughout the show with those who came to dance and sing with eye contact and conversation, making us feel we were in their living room hanging out as old friends. No matter if you've been a fan since their 1997 tape, "Who's In Your Band,' or if you've just joined with the release of their latest album you are guaranteed to enjoy yourself. They continue to solidify why they are such a staple in the LGBT community and are knocking down barriers while they reach new audiences.
