Adriana:

“Today I’m here with Savanna who's currently on tour with Mackenzy Maekay as an opener. She is

an independent singer-songwriter whose music deep dives into themes of vulnerability, longing,

and self-discovery. Thank you for taking the time to meet with me today.”

Savanna:

“Of course. Thanks for having me.”

Adriana:

“Thank you. Um, so as of now the tour is coming to an end. I think there's only ten days left.

Right? So as of now, what has been, like, the best experience you've had?”

Savanna:

“Um. It's so crazy cause tour, like, when I originally was going. And I heard it was, like, a month, I

thought it was going to be, like, so long and feel really long, but it honestly has felt like it's been,

like flying by, um, which is sad, but also like, just how it is. Um, I don't know. I think tonight was

really a great night for me. I love playing in Chicago. I've liked every time I've come here, I've felt

super welcomed and I've only ever opened shows here. I've never done a headlining show here.

So I really love just like, the energy. Um, and then, yeah, I think ultimately just playing the shows

in different places that I haven't been, and also getting to spend time with my team as much as I

have. It's just like three of us, but like, it's like almost having, like a fun little sleepover with your

friends every night and traveling. So I would just say the traveling, of course, and then getting to

play my music because his crowds are awesome every night. So yeah, it's been awesome.”

Adriana:

“Like, you're on, you're on tour and you have a lot of fun right there. Has there been any like, fan

experience that, like, stood out to you while you were there?”

Savanna:

“Yeah, especially when you're like the opener. Like anytime somebody comes at like remotely

knows your music, it like means so much more just because you know, it doesn't happen every

single night. Literally tonight again, my girl Liz, she knows who she is. She started coming to

see me in like 2023 on like, the first tour I ever did. And she came tonight and it's just like, really

special. It's like a full circle moment and brought me like a bunch of Dunkin stuff because, guys,

I'm obsessed with Dunkin, so like a gift card and like all these different things, like a Dunkin gift,

like, what is it called, like phone case and just like, crazy stuff. But, um, yeah, that was really

special. And then, of course, just like all the people that have had their first concerts recently at

the shows has been really cute. So I've had a great time, just like taking photos with anyone

that's like younger and this is their first concert, you know? Yeah.”

Adriana:

“I have to ask, what's your go to drink at Dunkin?”

Savanna:

“It's a medium iced coffee with French vanilla, two cream and extra ice. It's very specific. The

cream I used to get, like, three cream and three French vanilla. And it was really sweet and kind

of gross, so I've switched it up now.”

Adriana:

“I used to work at Dunkin for a while so I couldn't do Dunkin. I was like, I'm over it. It's like I used

to smell like burnt coffee.”

Savanna:

“Okay, I get that, I get that. Slowly going back.”

Adriana:

“Yeah, I'll try that.”

Savanna:

“Okay, perfect.”

Adriana:

“So what has been your biggest lesson so far on this tour, both as an artist and just personally?”

Savanna:

“Yeah. Um, I think personally, just sticking to the routines that I've kind of set up for myself for

just, like, Mental health stuff like I make sure I do like meditation videos while I'm gone, or just

like get some alone time and like use my headphones if I'm on a long drive or like at nighttime.

Um, just to kind of like recenter because this is like such a random job and you're all over the

place kind of, and your brain and body knows that it's kind of all over the place. So it's really

good for me to just kind of like, breathe and like, think about something other than work, which

is helpful. Um, and then, like, sticking to, you know, as much working out as I can do just to, like,

get any, like, extra stress kind of out of my body, I think has really been important for me in like a

personal way. And then, um, I guess as an artist, I have always kind of had this thing where

whenever you're playing for a show and if somebody like feels like they're not engaged, even if

it's like one person, it kind of makes it sometimes hard to, like, not think too much about that.

Like while you're up there singing, you'll just be like, oh my gosh, I feel like this one person over

there like, doesn't, you know, whatever, like what I'm doing. And, um, I've tried to really focus on

the people in the crowd that are paying attention and that are smiling and happy and like, want

to be there. And that's kind of what, like, keeps me in the song emotionally while I'm performing

it. And I think that's something that I really need to like, work on. And also just like get better at

because, yeah, it's hard sometimes when you're just opening and they don't know who you are

at all. So you have to win them over, you know? So yeah.”

Adriana:

“It's all been good so far and I'm sure you'll succeed.”

Savanna:

“Thanks.”

Adriana:

“Can you walk us through your typical creative process from idea to finished piece, possibly from

your single coming out on march 14 “you don't exist yet? ””

Savanna:

“Yeah. Uh, my creative process has changed so much over the years, but that song was kind of

written in, like, a very lighthearted way. Like it was supposed to be kind of a joke, like me and

my friend Cece Coakley that wrote it with me. We were just like, we should make a song for

your future boyfriend since you've been single for so long and you don't really want to write

about your ex anymore because you don't really care about that anymore. Like you've moved

on. They're like, but what can we do to, you know, like make something that feels, you know,

true to me right now? Um, and so, yeah, we were like, it'd be fun to write a song for your future

boyfriend. You guys can, like, sing it together in the car. It was supposed to be a joke, but it

ended up obviously not being a joke. It turned out to be something that I like, really loved and

felt like, kind of touched on a part of my personality and where I'm at right now that I haven't

talked about yet. So, um, yeah, we really just like wrote it with our friend Matt. Me and CC, um,

in his like, home studio in Nashville. We were just, like, messing around and, um, yeah, we

wrote it in, like, less than, like three hours. So it was kind of quickly came together. Um, but

yeah, it was just started on guitar and we went from there. So yeah, it was really fun.”

Adriana:

“I like it, I like that song.”

Savanna:

“Thank you, I appreciate it.”

Adriana:

“It's very different for sure.”

Savanna:

“Definitely different than my other stuff. Yeah.”

Adriana:

“So with that being said, how do you find inspiration for your songwriting?”

Savanna:

“Um, I feel like a lot of it is just like life experiences for me, or just like a lot of self-reflection. Um,

I'm big into like, psychology and kind of like understanding the why behind, like, myself and my

personality type and like into the attachment thing and the styles and the Enneagram, like all

those different personality types. Um, so yeah, they like it too, I guess. Um, but yeah, I just

really, like, love learning about myself in a way that, like, I can, like, grow from whatever I'm

currently experiencing and just, like, wanting to be the best version of myself. So that really

inspires me in a lot of ways, because it gives me like language to write about when I'm like

learning all these different things. And um, yeah, also just like relationships with people, my

family, my friends, past relationships with like partners, whatever it is. So I think it's like really

just life experience stuff. It's all true stories. Like I've never written a song about someone else's

story yet. It's just always been like personal to me and vulnerable. So that's kind of, I think what

inspires it, for sure.”

Adriana:

“I mean, personally, for me, like, that's why I like an artist because like, they can like relate to

their songs instead of focusing on other things. That's like that's something I can like, really

appreciate because like you can really connect with like for sure.”

Savanna:

“Mhm. Yeah.”

Adriana:

“What do you hope your listeners or new listeners take away from your music?”

Savanna:

“Um, I hope they take away just like, authenticity from me. I really want them to feel like they can

get to know me through the songs. Like, I try really hard to be as honest as possible in

everything I write. Um, and definitely just like that same kind of energy of, like, accepting

yourself for who you are, but at the same time, not just like sitting in one space and just saying

like, oh, I'm like, I have this. Like, for me, I read a lot of songs about being an avoidant

attachment and just like things that come with that and like tendencies that I'm not super proud

of. And so, like, I'd rather people take the song and like, recognize maybe oh, that's me too and

then want to like, grow from it rather than just be like, oh, this is me. That's this is why I do that.

And like, kind of put themselves in boxes. I like to always like encourage, just like self growth

and stuff like that through the music. Even though a lot of it is about like the tendencies that I

have that I don't necessarily love or am not proud of. Um, so yeah, I don't know. I think like that.

And also just people feeling like they can relate to me and kind of have someone put into words

something they may not be able to like, fully put into words, but feel or experience. Yeah, Yeah

for sure.”

Adriana:

“So if you were to have a theme song for your, um, for your life, what would it be?”

Savanna:

“Oh, no. God. It's a great question. I'm gonna have to think about that. Um. Wow.”

Savanna:

“What is my theme song of my life? Like, do you even know? That's not my song. Can't be my

song. We have to think about what we listen to in the car. Mm. That's great. This is the hardest

question I've ever gotten. Maybe in my life. Let me see. Hold on, guys, I'm pulling out my phone.

I'm gonna tell you right now what I've been listening to. It'll relate to me, I guess. Let's see.

Guys, I hate to say this right now, but there's a song called Silver Spoon, and I've been eating

that song up. She's like a TikTok girl. I'm sure she was making music before that, but I found the

song on TikTok. I'm gonna make sure I don't butcher her name. My girl Erin Count, that's her

name. And I love this song, and I've been listening to it all the time, and I relate to it very heavily

in this moment. So I would say that right now She sounds so tragic. You guys, she literally wrote

this song about being, like, dating. Like someone who's, like, super healthy and grew up in, like,

a super, like, healthy household and, like, has no, like, trauma or anything. And then basically

like, her and his relationship is like her constantly feeling like she's like, not good enough for him

or just like she's will do something and expect a terrible reaction based off her, like childhood.

And he'll like, be like, not mad. And just like this, like really cool way of just basically saying

you're dating someone that has like no problems and no emotional trauma, and you have so

much that, like, you almost don't know how to connect to them, but you love them. It's like really

deep but really cool. And I like the way she like, phrased it and just like really great songwriting.

So that's probably what I would say right now. Yeah.”

Adriana:

“Check that out too.”

Savanna:

“You should. Queen. It's it, it's the move. It's the move for sure.”

Adriana:

“So can you tell us about any upcoming projects you're excited about? Possibly any other tours?”

Savanna:

“Yes. We're really hoping for another tour, that's for sure. Um, yeah. I mean, I'm really excited

about the music I have coming out this year. Um, we haven't announced like any of the titles of

anything really yet besides the songs to sing tonight. But yeah, the next single After You Don't

Exist is called cut to the Chase. I've talked about it a little bit on stage, but yeah, I think I'm the

most excited for that. I just think it's like really different than the other stuff I've done, but in a

way that's still like, feels like me. Um, and hopefully people can relate to it. And it's just funny.

And I'm just excited to have like a completely different side of my personality out there for

people to listen to, um, and just kind of move into a new era, I guess, of music and just like

everything. So I would say that is like the thing I'm the most excited for, for sure.”

Adriana:

“Where can the people find you at?”

Savanna:

“Um, pretty much all over, uh, Savannah Lee on all platforms. Um, Savannah is spelled without

an H on the end and middle name, which is my. Which is Lee. Is Lee I g h um, so yeah.

Anywhere. Literally. Spotify, Apple, YouTube, Instagram, all the things. Thank you guys. Yes.”
