If you’re someone who keeps up to date with newly released songs or spends time on Tik Tok then you’ve probably heard this song.

Flowers, produced by Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson, is her first #1 hit since Wrecking Ball came out 10 years ago. It was streamed over 100 million streams in 7 days, beating BTS’s song Butter from 2021.

Encompassing Miley’s unique husky voice, is a mixture of what sounds like funk and disco influences. This song encompasses ideas of self-sufficiency and independence with lyrics such as “I can love myself better, and I can hold my own hand.” It also emphasizes ideas of loving yourself more than ideas of it being a “revenge song” directed at her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth.

The song is catchy enough that you’d think it could’ve come from Harry Styles, especially taking into consideration the fact that it feels like such a summery song.

In general it’s an incredible self- love anthem to bring into 2023. Watch the official music video for the song here
